Welcome to Moxie Trades
Moxie is the ability to face fear with spirit and
courage. Does Moxie Trades live the mission – you bet.
If you didn’t catch us last week on Dragons’
Den, you can watch online at: http://www.cbc.ca/dragonsden/video.html
We are on Season 3, Episode 4
Kevin O’Leary gave me a hard time and warns: You are
in for a world of hurt! It was dramatic TV but the experience for myself
and the women who joined me on stage was much more fun in real life. The
actual taping of the show was two hours. We discussed the Moxie Trades
business plan and the overall safety business in Canada. I
have read many comments on the Dragons’ Den forums about whether or not
the show is real. Yes, it’s real. No, this isn’t
typically how business is done. However, I have asked for money to fund
the business on a few occasions and each time you need to know your
business. You are under the gun, you are under pressure. The same
questions get asked. The only difference is that typically you don’t have
five self-made millionaires sitting in front of you. This narrows down five
different meetings you would normally have to beg for. The actual process
includes due diligence and criminal checks. Due diligence breaks most
deals. Usually, one or both parties find something that either makes the
seller less interested in parting with equity or the buyer less enticed to
split with their money. In all cases, for those who make the show, it’s great
exposure and there are lessons to be learned about presenting a business
plan. The most important, know your business. As for Moxie Trades, we do strike a deal. There were
hugs all around at the end of our taping and two of the dragons offered help
with my business. I took one of them up on it. See which
Dragon we get into business with on the Season Finale of Dragons’ Den on
December 8th.
Thanks

Did you catch us on Dragons’ Den? If not, you
can catch the show online at http://www.cbc.ca/dragonsden/.Thanks to everyone who watched and sent in their comments,
updated the comments on the Dragons’ Den Forum and who voted.
I started the forum as MoxiliciousMama. I apologize if that
makes me a dork but someone had to go first.
AND VOTE, VOTE, VOTE, PLEASE – Tell the world you are part of
the Moxie Movement. Vote Here!
We
aren’t going to add too many comments on our thoughts about our appearance.
We don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t watched the show
yet. Tune in next Monday for our comments.
But, very importantly, I need to thank the women who joined me
on stage.
These ladies were from the Company of Women; Canadian
Association of Women in Construction ;
The Centre for Skills Development and Training; (I attended
the Women in Skilled Trades program here a couple of years ago) and Habitat for
Humanity .
Women
also joined us from the Moxie Trades online directory of women in the trades
and many of the women were our customers who wrote in and have bought our
products or have provided feedback.
It
was a great experience and it’s not over. We’ll be on again
on December 8th. Stay tuned to find out what happened next
when I was approached by one of the Dragons’.
Please
keep sending us your comments about the Moxie Mission, your story and the
products you need. We are working on total business development so keep’em
coming.
Thanks

New Era |

Welcome to a new era for Moxie Trades
Over the past couple of years, we launched a brand with homedepot.ca,
went national with Zellers and today we make one of our biggest announcements; a
test program with our product line at Wal Mart Canada. I have been
working with Wal Mart for a couple of years and this has been a huge dream to
have our products available in their stores. My goal has been to make
life easier for women who wear work boots and my choice of retailers to partner
with has been very important. More than creating a brand, it’s been
important to service the market that I also fall into. Working
Moms. |
