Your cat is part of the family and like all family members they can leave their mark on your home in many ways. If your cat is damaging your curtains, rug or other pieces of furniture there is a something you can do to deter them.

Make your own cat deterrent.

You will need clear dish liquid, eucalyptus essential oil, lemon essential oil, water and a clean spray bottle.

Fill your spray bottle 3/4 full with water, then add a few drops of the dish liquid. The dish liquid should be clear so it won’t discolor your fabric…it acts as a mixing agent for the oils and water. Now add 10 drops each of Eucalyptus Essential Oil and Lemon Essential Oil to the spray bottle. Replace the lid and shake well.

Shake well and spray where you don’t want your cats to scratch or urinate. It’s always best to make sure that if your cat has urinated on your carpet that you clean it thoroughly to remove the cat urine odor. If there is an area in your home that you don’t want your cat to lay or sit, use this spray there as well…they will avoid going around the smell.

(Make sure your pet does not ingest this though, lemon oil can be harmful if ingested. ) This hasn’t been tested on all fabrics, so be careful when spraying. Know your fabric and and what it can take or not. You can try a spot test in an area that is not so obvious first.
